To facilitate future enhancements of the Fisher FIELDVUE DVC family, a new version of this product was released in February 2007. This version is labeled DVC6000 Rev 2. As current inventories are depleted, this newest version will be used. The new DVC’s will be identified by a label on their shipping box and on their housing indicating the item is the new version.
To communicate with this version, you will require new Device Descriptions (DD) in your communications host. Device Descriptions are the electronic files that need to be loaded to the various hosts in order to communicate to field devices. You need to upgrade your host to include these new DDs. This upgrade will allow you to communicate with the previous versions as well as Rev. 2. The upgrade is very easy.
Depending on which host you are using, there are four different mechanisms for upgrading your software:
- If you have ValveLink® Software v7.2 or older:
- If you have AMS™ Software: Intelligent Device Manager (with or without AMS ValveLink® SNAP-ON):
- If you have a Model 375 Field Communicator with the Easy Upgrade option:
- “DVC6000 Device Rev. 2, DD Rev. 1” can be downloaded from the web at www.fieldcommunicator.com through the Easy Upgrade program.
- If you have a Model 275 HART® Communicator or Model 375 Field Communicator without the Easy Upgrade option and want to add the new DD’s to your existing library:
*Options 1, 2 and 3 are no charge and option 4 may have charges that apply.
You will not have to upgrade your existing host unless you wish to communicate to the new
DVC6000 Rev 2.
